Thirty-nine (39) vendors are authorized to sell at Foothills Farmers' Market during the 2010 season. Some of these growers utilize the market for only a few days during the season when their specialty crops like strawberries, asparagus, or melons are in supply. Others have more diversified production/product lines and sell at the market on a regular basis throughout the season.
Foothills Farmers' Market conducts certification site visits with all vendors each year to ensure that they produce everything they sell. Our certification process also assures you that you're buying local produce at the peak of freshness & flavor. All baked goods and other processed foods have been prepared by vendors in kitchen facilities inspected by the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and/or the Cleveland County Health Department.
After Hours Farms is located in northern part of Cleveland County in Toluca. Our family has been farming meat rabbits and honey for the past eight years and we have now added fresh eggs and chickens to our product line. We take pride in our fresh products.

B Flat Farm is a very small neighborhood operation. We are within Shelby city limits. We have honey and Shitake mushrooms. We use as little chemicals as possible; our honey comes from the hives in our back yard. It is pure, natural and unprocessed. We have honey with or without comb and creamed honey.
I bake delicious home-made foods including sourdough bread, banana bread, strawberry bread, an assortment of cakes & pies, old-fashioned fried pies, cookies and candy (including fudge and peanut brittle).
Berry Fields offers a broad range of locally-grown fruits and vegetables.
Blueberry Hill Farm is located outside of Grover, NC on approximately 15 acres. We raise Suri alpacas for breeding and fiber production, selling beautiful yarns made from our alpaca's fleeces. We sell blueberries in season, free range chicken and duck eggs all year long, and this year we are adding all natural vegetables. You can find us listed on the Local Harvest web site and Alpaca Nation.
Owner John Carroll produces delicious mushrooms, specializing in shiitakes. Long a symbol of longevity in Asia because of the health-promoting properties, shiitake mushrooms have been used medicinally by the Chinese for more than 6,000 years. More recently, their rich, smoky flavor has endeared them to American taste buds. These exotic, earthy mushrooms can be used fresh or dried. Oyster and wincap mushrooms will be available in late summer.
We provide a range of products, including honey, jams, jellies, and strawberries. We also have picnic facilities available at the farm. We offer pick-your-own and farm-picked berries at our roadside stand at the farm. Wholesale available. Operating Hours: Sunday 1-6 pm and Monday thru Saturday from 8 am-5 pm; beginning mid April through the end of May. We cannot pick in the rain, so please call ahead. Lowrey Young creates a variety of customer favorites, including home-baked sourdough breads (including whole wheat), pimento cheese, herb butter, and fresh salsa made from vegetables grown by other Foothills Farmers' Market vendors.
Glencora is a small, 70-acre family farm in the southern Piedmont region of North Carolina. We raise organic food for ourselves; meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables. "A full measure pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap..." Out of this abundance we sell to friends, neighbors, and our customers. We purchased our property in 1978 and have worked at improving it ever since. The farm was certified "organic" in 1987 by the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association. We plan to apply for USDA certification in 2009. Glencora is thirty years pesticide, herbicide, and chemical fertilizer free.
Owned and operated by Lindy Abrams, Holla Holler Farm sits nestled on the banks of Mountain Creek, just 5 miles outside Rutherfordton, NC. 2009 marked the first year this land was used to grow vegetables and culinary herbs without the aid of synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The soil is being nurtured and revitalized with healthy doses of compost, organic fertilizers, and organic amendments to call the earthworms and soil microbes back home. This approach creates a healthier soil with each passing season rather than depleting it. Lindy represents the third generation of the Hodge bloodline to farm this rich bottomland. In addition to her vegetables and herbs, Lindy sell unique handcrafted items, including whimsical pine knot birds, hand-sewn textiles, and paintings.
Owned and operated by Jeff Crotts, Knob Creek is famous for its farm-fresh apples, blackberries, blueberries, melons, peaches, and strawberries, plus beautiful pumpkins and delicious jams/jellies and homemade ice cream. In addition to selling at farmers’ markets, we offer pick-your-own, and a homey roadside stand. Operating Hours: April-December, 7 days a week: 8am-6pm Mon-Fri, 8am-7pm Sat, 1-8pm Sun. Our farm is located 1/2 mile north of Fallston, NC, on Hwy #18. Our farm is family owned. We have been farming for more than 40 years and sell only what we grow. We take pride in producing quality produce. We sell retail and some wholesale. We run a roadside stand at our location and also work farmers markets. We offer products as follows: tomatoes (including heirloom varieties), squash, cucumbers, okra, onions, cabbage, peppers, Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes, cantaloupes, watermelons, turnips, greens, lettuce, beets, peaches, pumpkins, collards. We also sell vegetable plants and sweet potato plants.

Owner Hope Ward makes all of her handmade natural soap from milk from her herd of Alpine dairy goats. These lightly-scented soaps clean gently and will not dry out or irritate the skin.

Papaw's Produce is owned and operated by Harold Fitch and granddaughter Candace Fitch. We will be growing Blue Lake and White Half Runner green beans, squash, cucumbers, okra, and different varieties of tomatoes. We will also have peppers, corn, and beets followed by crowder peas, sweet watermelons, and cantaloupes.
Plant Wise Solutions, LLC is a small state-certified plant farm and nursery offering small fruits & berries, herbs, heirloom vegetables, and perennials. We try to offer harder to find varieties, some unusual selections, as well as old favorites. We currently offer more than 30 varieties of herbs, over 60 named hostas and a good selection of small fruit trees and berries. Our inventories constantly change and are usually limited to smaller quantities. We are open to the public on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, other times by appointment.
Our mission is to produce high quality beef grown in a natural way… to provide our animals with an environment that lets them live their entire lives as nature intended a cow should, by allowing them to forage exclusively on pasture. On our farm we use management practices that enable the cows and pastureland to sustain each other with only rain and sunshine. We sell USDA processed and packaged grass fed beef as individual cuts, in bulk at 10 lb. and 20 lb. boxes, or 1/4 and 1/2 a cow at a time.
Thomas Carson operates Puzzle Peace Farm in Bostic, NC. Thomas has been extremely successful in the implementation of sustainable and organic production methods, and offers some interesting and unusual crop varieties. He is also an talented artist, welding together old gears, shafts, and other parts from machines and farm implements to create funky, functional yard art.
Quail Hollow Farms grows of some of the finest vegetables and flowering ornamentals in the state of North Carolina. From the sweet spring time taste of juicy strawberries to cantaloupes and watermelons during the summer, Quail Hollow Farms is the place to stop for outstanding produce. Red Dirt Ranch is a grass-based poultry farm located in Ellenboro NC. We currently offer pastured poultry and eggs. We raise all our birds outside on fresh pasture and sunshine. We do not give our birds hormones or antibiotics. We eat these birds too!!! We are excited and passionate about bringing good food to good people and encourage everyone to think locally and sustainably for peace globally!!!
We produce delicious, farm-fresh asparagus at our farm in Grover. Our asparagus practically sells itself… its in demand by home cooks and professional chefs alike. Asparagus harvest is relatively brief, lasting only a few weeks during April into June. So look for us early in the season and shop the market early to make sure we still have supply!
Owned and operated by John and Beth Thompson, Ridge Runner Farm is located in the foothills of upper Cleveland County. Our chickens are fed an all natural diet. They have access to a natural environment and therefore> producing eggs that are free from antibiotics, hormones, or pesticides. We sell eggs year round and have day old chicks available for purchase at the farm. Hatching schedule varies, so please call for availability of chicks.
Operated by Tim & Lori Wellmon of Shelby, Rock Bottom Farms specializes in vine ripened tomatoes, herbs, vegetable transplants and farm-fresh cut flowers. Our product line comes straight from our family-run greenhouse and the fields surrounding our home.
Roper Farms products are grown at two different farm locations in Bellwood, NC. My products include about 10 different varieties of heirloom tomatoes and other vegetables including squash, beans, peas, okra, lettuce, carrots, corn and late-season blueberries along with apples, peaches, scuppernongs and figs.
Tim’s Produce is nestled in the foothills of northern Cleveland County. Tim Crotts is the sixth generation owner of this 75 acre farm producing various fruits and vegetables. We grow sweet corn, tomatoes, green beans, squash, cucumbers and other "down to earth" good, wholesome vegetables. We also have figs, grapes, blueberries, blackberries and old-timey apples and pears.
Underwood Family Farms is located in Lawndale, NC at the foothills of the Appalachians and currently raise and direct market our natural meats to our local community and the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area. Our family is dedicated to providing the healthiest meats
available. That is why all of our animals are raised without the use of antibiotics, growth hormones, or steroids. We use sustainable agricultural practices to farm in unity with nature and provide a low-stress environment for our animals to live out the good life, on open pasture and in fresh air. We are certified meat handlers and are members of NC Choices, Goodness Grows in NC, Foothills Fresh, Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project, and Carolina Farm Stewardship Association.
Thomas Moore of Shelby grows a wonderful variety of fresh fruits and vegetables on the fertile bottomlands of his Polk County farm. Whitetail Valley Farm utilizes a variety of cultural practices to extend their growing season, and is noted for the ability to provide crops like sweet corn outside the typical window of availability. Thomas also sells all-natural goats milk soap has recently added baked goods and other value-added commodities to his product line.
Wilson Farms is owned and operated by retired dairy farmer L.D. Wilson and his son Charles. Together they grow a variety of produce including beans, corn, squash, okra, potatoes, zucchini, peanuts and cabbage.
